See you at the 2018 Jog-a-Thon
This weekend is the Jog-a-Thon at Kelly Lane School. We are so excited to be one of the main sponsors of this event. Six years ago my oldest daughter entered kindergarten and I was thrilled to hear about the event and everything that went into it. The kids get sponsored to participate in the run and all the proceeds go directly to the Parent/Teacher Organization which funds extra enrichment programs at the schools.
So why is this exciting? Well, it’s two-fold. First, the PTO provides arts enrichment to the schools. As an avid DIY-er I can’t imagine anything more exciting than exposing children to the various arts and experiences. Also, as a mom of six kids I am thrilled at the idea of doing one extra large fundraiser where all proceeds go to the PTO instead of a plethora of smaller fundraisers that ask the kids (ahem moms) to sling overpriced magazine subscriptions, chocolate and wrapping paper, which they only receive a small commission from.
So how does this work? On Saturday the 20th from 9-3 at Kelly lane School in Granby CT, there will be a DJ and there will be a designated area for students to run. Every half hour there is a 20-minute heat and kids can drop in throughout the day. Aside from t,hat there are many other things open to the public: a mini-farmers market, craft, and vendor fair, obstacle course and a Gaga Pit, face painting, hair tinseling as well as a variety of food trucks. I look forward to this fun event and welcome you to come by, check it out and come visit the Joy & Wit booth. It’s really a fun, awesome day that embodies so many of the things that are great about living and raising kids in Granby.
